reblogged from kathryntyler:

Traditional Norwegian boat houses have been used to store boats and fishing gear, but now many of them are being converted for recreational summer use. At this site, the existing boat house was in bad shape and had to be torn down, but its simple shape, sensible…

Villa San Spirito

Quiet a nice habitat. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Electronic Music (I)

I want to shortly introduce you to two artists who brought the art of sampling of everyday noise and creating an incredible atmosphere to a whole new level.

Church Bells, Door Clapping and all kind of other samples are woven into a carpet of music. Even though one might also listen to this music in the background, new little details can be explored each time you turn the volume a little more up.

Valentin Stip - Anytime Will Do EP

This absolut gem of an EP was released on Nicolas Jaar Label Clown and Sunset. Give a listen especially to Gravels, which can either be listened to in a seperate window follwing the link or in the following soundcloud stream directly in the blog.

Bars (I)

El Puerto, Plentzia (near Bilbao)

One of my favourite bars in and around Bilbao. The bar is situated directly in the harbour of Plentzia.Few things can be more enjoyable than sitting at the sone wall in front of the bar, glancing at the waves breaking into the harbour front, accompanied by a cool glass of Txakoli and a fresh piece of tortilla de patatas.

The bar.

Festivals (I)

To start things of I’d like to present special festivals that I’ve either been to or am extremly keen to participate in.

First of I’d like to start with the Punkt Festival in Kristiansand, Norway. While admission is rather expensive, the concept of this 3-day expirimental (jazz)festival is rather extraordinary. Accomplished artists as Sidsel Endresen, Arve Henriksen or Brian Eno play live concerts. Those concerts are being “live remixed”, newly interpreted by other artists at the festivals.Even though the artists mostly stem from (or are connected to) the norwegian jazz scene they reflect a broad array from styles (Estonian Quire, Electronica, Pop). Artist Director in Residence for 2012 will be Brian Eno, which will be joined by fellow artist from David Sylvians label Samadihsound and artist from European Jazz labes as ECM, Jazzland Rec. or Rune Grammofon.

The festival lasts from 30. August-1. September 2012. Early-Bird Passes (578 left as I write this) are available for 1850 KRO (equal to around 240€) here.
